So Warhammer Online came out not even a week ago, and I’ve been playing it quite a bit lately. And now there’s already a few leveling guides out there on the market. But do you REALLY need to buy a Warhammer Online leveling guide for this game?

Seriously, I’ve only played this game for less than a week, and I’m already a level 20 Rune Priest that can DPS. The rate that you gain experience in this game has been pretty fast so far, and I’m pretty sure I’ll hit the level cap of 40 in a week or two at the most. So the question for these leveling guides becomes, is it even worth it to buy a leveling guide for a game that most people will achieve the maximum level of 40 rather easily? If noone else will say it I say no, but then again I’m pretty frugal myself.

Anyways here’s the two Warhammer Online leveling guides that I’ve stumbled across so far:

Ashling’s World – Warhammer Online Leveling Guide

The Warhammer Online Leveling Guide

Let’s take a look at what these guys have to offer so early after the release of the game.

Ashling’s Warhammer guide states that they had 3 players in the beta since Oct 2007 testing out everything hardcore. By being in the beta that long they have amassed enough information to create these Order and Destruction Warhammer guides. This is believable, because I was in the beta back in Febuary, so I know what maps/scenarios they had access to then, as well as some of the previous month’s tests posts in their private forums. I also know that the game even though it was in beta had majority of the same quests so the information is still pretty valid. When I ran through the areas that I was familiar with in retail, most of the quests had not changed at all since Febuary.

Looks like in addition to Ashling’s Warhammer guide that you purchase you get a bonus of a Warhammer crafting guide as well. Now there isn’t too many crafts available yet in Warhammer, but from personal experience, Talisman making is a pain in the butt. So any help leveling that skill up is a plus for me.

Now onto The Warhammer Guide, which mentions that many of the guides are written from closed beta testers, and that the information is wrong. I’m going to have to disagree with this statement for sure. Many of the quests may have been bugged, or not giving the correct rewards etc, but the quests themselves are still the same. Also this part of their page really piqued my interest.

Note: Currently, the guide is only completed up to Level 20 – Updates will be made every day as new content is added to the guide to stay ahead of your leveling speed. Also, stay tuned to the members area for great new bonus content just for members!

Only done till level 20? Why do I have the strange feeling that the writers of this guide probably didn’t even make it into the closed beta. I mean I’m level 20 on my Rune Priest already, and this guide goes up to level 20. So this means if I had spent my $30 bucks on this guide it’d be wasted. They should have named the guides Warhammer Online Leveling guide 1-20 instead.

Both Ashling’s Warhammer Leveling Guide, and The Warhammer Online Guide state that you get instant access to the guide after purchasing it. As well as free updates to it as the game gets patched/fixed. Which is a good thing. One thing to point out is that both of these guides are offering a Order OR Destruction guide for $30, and if you want the Order AND Destruction leveling guides it will be closer to $45-50. So make sure you select the right faction before placing your orders.

Okay so far of the two it looks like Ashling’s Leveling guide is going to be the clear winner here if I were to recommend a leveling guide. But seriously play the game first, and see how fast you level. If you get stuck go look up the quests in over at the Warhammer Database for free before you spend 30 bucks on either of these guides. I myself outleveled the quests by simply participating the RvR scenarios, and find that leveling up in RvR is quite a bit faster than grinding quests. If you still want to buy the guides then well feel free to buy them via my affiliate links below.

Ashling’s World – Warhammer Online Leveling Guide

The Warhammer Online Leveling Guide

Oh and I’m still looking for people to hang out with on my server Azazel Order side. Hit me up I’m Minimoses.

Its now confirmed that the new Google Toolbar Beta officially hijacks your web browser when you go to a page that no longer exists, and has a 404 page showing. The once innocent seeming company is starting to resemble Microsoft, and their monopolistic do it our way or the highway methods. Matt Cutts confirmed the story after the TechCrunch article it looks like too.

According to Matt Cutts:

404 errors with default error pages

When a visitor tries to reach your content with an invalid URL and your server returns a short, default error message (less than 512 bytes), the Toolbar will suggest an alternate URL to the visitor. If this is a general problem in your website, you will see these URLs also listed in the crawl errors section of your Webmaster Tools account.

If you choose to set up a custom error page, make sure it returns result code 404. The content of the 404 page can help your visitors to understand that they tried to reach a missing page and provides suggestions regarding how to find the content they were looking for. When a site displays a custom error page the Toolbar will no longer provide suggestions for that site. You can check the behavior of the Toolbar by visiting an invalid URL on your site with the Google Toolbar installed.

So this means its that much more important to setup your own custom 404 pages to avoid any missed affiliate sales, pages, or products as a webmaster. For the person just browsing the web though, now we have to worry about this toolbar being labeled as spyware?

If I recall Andy Beard had a bad experience with Google Toolbar’s ‘Personalized Recommendations’, and a not safe for work image a few months back . He was in the process of removing the Google Toolbar anyways, but it was another reason for him to do so.

Oh well maybe its time to go download the Yahoo! Toolbar now, and give it a try.

Regardless of how much money you can make via doing blog reviews via Review Me, Smorty or other venues. I’m not one to give professional advice on how a site should look or what it should change. However there are a good amount of sites that do all this, and currently for free. Some may require a link back others not. Check out their other reviews to see if its right for you.

About three months ago I started up a test domain on Whypark to try it out. Today will be the last day for my site MoneyNe.ws on Whypark as I will be moving my blog onto the domain. I made a list of all the Whypark posts I made for easy reading:

Whypark Review Day 1

Whypark Review Day 15

Whypark Review Day 19

Whypark Review Day 30

Whypark Review Day 45

Whypark Review Page Rank Received

Over all this is a nice program for those people who have some domain names that do not receive any hits while their domain is parked at sites like GoDaddy, NameDrive, Sedo etc. The reason is that Whypark will get your site indexed in Google, and other search engines. Parked domains usually will not get your sites indexed. If your sites already get type in traffic without the use of SEO then you will be better off developing the site or keeping it on the its domain parking host.

Overall Traffic Details during the complete Trial period from September to Current

The first few weeks after the articles in my Whypark site got indexed I was ranking very well for the keywords listed. I also got quite a bit of traffic from Google from the SEO on 2000+ pages. I did notice however that after 2 months the articles started disappearing from its index. In November the indexed pages were down to about 1,500. If you notice for December I started receiving little to no traffic as I currently have only 400 pages indexed with none of them ranking for keywords in the finance niche. This was the running stats with no articles published to push the keyword rankings higher. (I assumed people would want a domain stat tracking that for sites with little to extra work was needed).

Note that the finance niche has plenty of competition, so sites like Whypark will do better if you target less competitive keywords. My site got lumped into high authority sites like CNN Money, Wall Street Journal, and Business Weekly. Also every bank, investor, and stock guide so it is important that you do some keyword research first before jumping in.

Adsense revenue earned during the 3 months totaled out at a break even $5.50. If I had 100 such sites, and this was the average payout I would have netted $450, after paying for the $99 needed to buy the Whypark credits. If you have more than 100 domains I would try it out for 3 months, and then after your sites are done move them back to your previous domain park service, and move your other untrafficked domains into Whypark since your credits are not tied to a domain.

Conclusion

Whypark won’t bring you thousands of dollars. Then again domain parking doesn’t either for sites that do not get any type in traffic. If you do have sites that are aging with little to no traffic though I do recommend this. It will let you recover at least the cost of the domain name registration fees. When you do setup your sites; do some keyword research first. Do write some articles to give your keyword niche an extra boost in the search rankings. That about wraps it up. Since I still have a Whypark account I’ll be running another test on another domain once I move this blog to Wordpress. As always thank you for stopping by.

If you thought that this information was helpful, and want to try Whypark do so here.

I had a nice big rush of traffic from Google at the beginning since it was a newly created page, and then the SERP went down slowly no visitors a day after about two weeks or so. That’s the Google engine for you, giving new engines good ranking for a day or so after release. Then sticking it into the infamous sandbox. I don’t blame them though, the site only has nine back links so I’m still surprised that its even getting hits at the moment.

Anyways it looks like Yahoo finally indexed the page recently, and I’m seeing a steady steam of visitors daily from that search engine now for the keyword free 3d mmorpg. The other one I have for Team Fortress due to all the clan sites, and gaming site promotions isn’t fairing well. This stream of people looks like its also pushing the Squidoo rankings back up as well. At its peak in October my Metin 2 site had around a 1400 ranking. This was just from being indexed in Google initially. Until recently I think the site has been sitting in the 25,000th position, but climbing back thanks to Yahoo Search to a currently around 9k. On Google for that term I don’t even show up in the top 50. On Yahoo my site shows up as #4. How you like them Apples now?

Since Squidoo does the payments about a month out I finally get to see what type of money comes in from just having two pages. (well I’m just going to count one since the Team Fortress page doesn’t bring in anything).

A nice sum of [drum roll please]: $2.07

Not bad, for a single page with only 9 backlinks, most of that being my own blog with the rest from my re-syndicated on some splog or rss sites. I think its especially good when the top earning lenses only earn about $10 from Squidoo.(they earn the rest via affiliate advertising) I think I should go back an maybe change a few things on that web page to help it out. And Yes there is an affiliate link on the site for the Metin 2 page I made on Squidoo. Also even if not many people visit the site, I’ve had 363 clicks outgoing clicks logged. Meaning this is a great free site to get pre-sell visitors to your affiliate links. I’ll have to take a look at this site again to make some landing pages for more Clickbank offers I think. Its definitely cheaper than paying for 300 clicks via Adwords.

If you haven’t made a Squidoo lens yet, sign up for one. At the very least to create a nice back link to your website for keywords on Yahoo, that you can’t quite rank well on Google with.

Back at the beginning of October after I read a TechCrunch article about it, I had put up a widget on my side back called Scratchback. Since at the time I was preparing for my Cozumel trip, I had completely forgotten to write up a post about it. Better late than never I guess eh?

What is Scratchback?

Its an online tipping system that gives back to the tippers by allowing a publisher to “give back” links or images in return.

Isn’t selling links bad? Won’t I get penalized by Google?

Notably, the system has been approved by Google (they checked) as every link is “nofollow” and the widgets are built in javascript; this is a product that provides an alternative advertising model that won’t see publishers punished in future Google crackdowns.

What kind of templates are available?

There are quite a few different colors, but it seems like you can’t customize them fully by setting your own bgcolor.

Does it cost me anything to sign-up?

No it doesn’t, and you can actually make some money if someone gives you a tip.

Do I have to let someones link on my site if I don’t like the contents?

You are under no obligation to show or approve any listing you find questionable for ANY reason. There are no refunds either. Your readers are tipping you for your efforts.

How Do I Get Paid?

Payments for earnings are ONLY paid through PayPal. If you don’t have a valid, working PayPal account, you shouldn’t use Scratchback as a publisher because you won’t ever get paid. In the future we may add alternative payment methods so stayed tuned. Payments are made at the end of a thirty-day cycle. It can take up to 15 days to remit payment to your PayPal account at the end of each cycle. Publishers must earn at least $25 to initiate payment.
Note: Current payout is set at $10 according to this updated post.

How Much Do I Charge For My Top Spot?

Totally up to you (minimum $1.00). We suggest you set your pricing for tips based on your own perceived value of your website or blog. Mine is currently set at a bargain price of $1 until it fills up. I’ll raise the price after the 10 slots are filled.

Does ScratchBack charge a fee or commission?

Yes, after Paypal fees they collect 10%, and give you 90% of the tip now. This is a lot better than the 50% they first opened up the program. The change was noted here in this post.

Okay I signed up for Scratchback how can I let people know I have the widget?

There is a blog post here that you can comment on. There is also a Scratchback user directory which has free listing.

I hope that takes care of any questions regarding Scratchback. Did I do a good job? You could always Scratch my back. =) Like I said earlier, for a limited time I will put tip cost at $1.00 until it fills up, after that I’ll think about raising the tip jar.

It seems like lately every time I have good news, I also have bad news to share. I should rename my blog the yin/yang effect or something. Anyways my first check from CashCrate has just arrived so I WAS going to take a picture of it. Until I found out that my camera no longer works. So I’m sending a picture that I took from my camera phone, which btw is also on its last leg.

I’ll just be borrowing the camera from work to take a full size picture of the check next time. The total check amount was for 20.25, which was about the same as the total on my September Earnings. I guess this will going towards my buying another @%!% camera fund. Anyways if your new to CashCrate, you can check out my other CashCrate review posts.

The Whypark test site I’m using made PR3, and comparison my blog only hit PR2. I personally don’t care either way, but many ad networks only work with sites with a minimum page rank value still so have a parked domain with page rank just means more revenue options.

In my previous post I also mentioned that I was only getting about 1 visitor a month to the Whypark site. This just goes to show you that page rank value has no value or connection to actual website traffic.

Today is about a month and a half after Google indexed my Whypark site. Here’s easy links to the previous posts:

Whypark Review & Trial Day 1
Whypark Review Day 15
Whypark Review Day 19
Whypark Review Day 30

According to Google’s Webmaster tools I have about 1500 pages indexed. Traffic to the site this month has been relatively slow, about 1 visitor/day at the moment. Overall from the site itself I’ve made a little less than $5.00 so far from Adsense. It did help a little bit that I added an Adsense Video as part of a Business news video page. It makes having the plain article site have a little more color, esp. I’ve been thinking instead of just the video page link, that none of the visitors seem to notice, I should just add the video unit to all article pages. I have a lot to learn about ad placement still.

Lately there seems to be more, and more templates that are similar to Whypark. However the downside to them is that you have to have a host company which usually incurs a monthly fee. Whypark hosts your domain for you for free.

I plan on continuing this Whypark trial for a full year, so visit back if you are having doubts about paying the $100 one time charge for the service. While $100 dollars is a lot of money, you have to realize that it is for 100 domains that is hosted for free. Also if you notice, I’ve already made roughly $5.00 in 45 days from just one domain that is less than 3 months old. If you have many domains that get little to no traffic now you should try out Whypark(disclosure: affiliate link).

About a month ago I wrote up a review on CashCrate, and followed it up with a payout report a few days later. Well I’m pleased to announce that I was finally able to reach payout again this month. Due to soo many people going on vacation at my full time job, I’ve had to scale back the time for doing alot of these offers so when CashCrate sends me a check next month it won’t be as large. This month will only be about $10.60 so far, bring my CashCrate total to $30.65 so far.

I have to be honest though I wasn’t intending on completing any offers this month due to work load, but as I had received an e-mail from CashCrate notifying me that one of my referrals had reached payout. Thus entitling me to a $3.00 bonus, along with earning 20% of their earnings. So when I logged into my account I already had $5.00+ sitting there without me doing a thing($3.00 bonus + 20% of $10 = $5.00). Well this made it really easy to do a few offers to get that extra $5.00, and whammo here I am with another payout post.

How does CashCrate’s referrals work?
The program has a 2 tier approach meaning you can refer/invite someone, and if your referral receives a referral of their own, you still get paid.

How much do I get paid for each referral?
You earn an additional 20% off of each of your referral’s non-pending earnings.
You also receive an additional 10% of your second level referral’s earnings as well.
You receive $3.00 when your referral reaches $10 (payout).

Is there a limit to referrals?
No, I’ve seen people who report to make over $1000/month from Cashcrate with referrals alone. I unfortunately am not one of those yet. (I can be optimistic right?)

Alright I’ve joined Cashcrate, how can I better chances of offers going through?
If you’ve already joined CashCrate, and you’re looking for good tips on how to get offers to go through I recommend reading Amy Bass’s writeup here. In addition to the tips she posted, I strongly recommend going to the CashCrate forum where other members post about which offers confirmed for earnings. You have a much better chance of earning money quickly if you watch this thread, and look for those exact offers by name.

Note: Now being realistic here, while I enjoy making money online. I don’t want to make money as a result of someone else’s hardship. (this is one reason why you don’t see me pushing Survey Scout or similar programs on my blog). While reading through the CashCrate forums there are many people who complain of getting billed for Trial Offers. This is why I don’t recommend doing the trial offers or products on Cashcrate, unless you fully read the terms & conditions of each offer carefully. For example one of their offers requires a cell phone number that you need to reply back with a pin to activate. If you don’t read the offer carefully a month later you will get billed for a $10 subscription later on if you don’t cancel it. Please be careful when signing up for each of the offers. I personally stick with the 100% free offers which only send spam e-mail to my newly created free Hotmail accounts.
