We all know that the PQ/Keep/Fort Contribution system is a little borked. Even with the fixes, the absolute random rolls is still frustrating for people who have been to dozens of keeps or forts, and have not yet won anything of value. However there is a solution to better your odds a by a little bit.

The workaround might take a little getting used to so I recommend doing it on some easy PQs. What you’ll need:

A party that knows how to do this, and is willing to cooperate.

Auto-loot turned off.

Loot Threshhold set to all.

Master-looter assigned to person who wins the bag.

What happens is if a party completes a PQ or a keep. The rolls go off, and winners determined. The person who wins the gold bag(if they don’t need the loot), can be set to master looter. Once this is done they can loot the chest, and click on the gold bag to assign it to someone else in the party or warband. This way if someone already has everything they need they can effectively pass their winnings onto someone else. Its not a new thing, and its been brought up before. Hopefully Mythic implements something like a token system again in the future for people who have been extremely unlucky at winning things.

Anyways hope this helps out some people who have yet to get their set pieces still. Good luck and happy hunting.

Anyways the list of Tier 4 Warhammer Online Keeps that this Squig Herder gets in is:

Karak Karag single wall *Thundermountain
Karaz Drengi both walls *Kadrin Valley
Kazad Dammaz single wall *Kadrin Valley
Stonewatch Keep both walls *fortress
Charon’s Keep single wall *Chaos waste
Zimmeron’s Hold both walls *Chaos waste
South Praag both walls *Praag
North Praag both walls *Praag
Moor’s Repose single wall *Reikland
Wilhelm’s Fist single wall *Reikland
Reikwald single wall *Fortress
Hatred’s Way single wall *Caledor
Wrath’s Resolve single wall *Caledor
Pillars of Remebrence single *Eatine
Arbor of Light single *Eatine
Covenant of Flame single *Dragonwake
Drakebreaker’s Scourge both *Dragonwake

YouTube [link]

Interesting enough, and while its probably not the last of it too. He’s missing the hole from the Black Crag north keep though which is pretty easy to find.

Anyways I’m off to go play my engineer alt again, which btw is level 34. I feel like Syp has rubbed off on me as I really enjoy my engineer more than my runepriest nowadays.

If you are an Order player like me, and hadn’t done the quests yet since they recently fixed them. Here is what you’ll need to do courtesy of this thread here:

1. Find the clue. (http://www.wardb.com/quest.aspx?id=41233)
-Once you’re in the first room of the Path of Ruin, click the blue banner to the right to complete.
2. Speak to the wounded knight (http://www.wardb.com/quest.aspx?id=41234)
-After you’ve clicked the banner, a wounded knight will spawn. Speak with him to complete.
3) Speak to Grandmaster Kaarn. (http://www.wardb.com/quest.aspx?id=41235)
-Once you’re back into the room with the blue banner, keep going forward (right) till you are in the open area with the dogs. In the far back right corner you’ll see 4 daemons on a platform that is branched out from the open area. Kill all four of them and Grandmaster Kaarn will spawn. Speak to him to complete.
4. Collect 50 skulls of the fallen. (http://www.wardb.com/quest.aspx?id=41236)
-These skulls only drop off the mobs from first half of the second PQ. You’ll have to keep redoing the first half because those are the only ones that seem to drop them. Collect 50 skulls to complete.
5. The three steps. (http://www.wardb.com/quest.aspx?id=41237)
-Click your quest scroll (Myrmidia Strictures) at all three ledges/levels of the last (third) PQ.
6. Kill Kaarn. (http://www.wardb.com/quest.aspx?id=41238)
-Kill Grandmaster Kaarn. Turn in the quest at the NPC that spawns near the instance entrance.
7. You need to complete two quests before advancing through the portal.(http://www.wardb.com/quest.aspx?id=41206 – http://www.wardb.com/quest.aspx?id=41222)
-For Raging Bull, go through the left wing (Path of Carnage) and kill the last boss (Thar’Ignan). After you’ve killed him, run up to where he was standing initially and loot the spear. For Emperor’s Justice, go through the right wing (Path of Fury) and kill the last boss. (Lord Slaurith) Complete both quests in-order to go through the last portal.
8. Kill Var’Ithrok (http://www.wardb.com/quest.aspx?id=41239)
-After completing “Portal of Rage”, the quest giver inside Kaarn’s room will give you this quest.

We were getting bugged on step 3, as Kaarn would not spawn nfor us even after killing everything on the steps. So instead of two groups killing him, only one group was able to last night. Once you’ve done these quests you’ll be able to enter the portal at the very end of middle path in Bastion Stairs.

Skull Lord Varithrok - Warhammer Online

There’s some easy trash mobs pulls on the way up, and I guess Mythic hadn’t tested these with order players enough or something. The biggest hint was the fact that the trash mobs drop Destruction level 21 loot for us, making us worried that the boss was going to drop the same thing. Well we cleared the trash, and walked into his giant arena to gaze upon his GIANT self. This pic doesn’t do him justice as my dwarven self could fit into that guy’s hand. This is me taking the pic with him just entering the clipping zone.

The fight in general was pretty easy, but we just kept either getting unlucky on the silence or getting burst with dot/sunder at the same time.

Skull Lord Var’Ithrok has a few abilities

Sunder – Frontal/Rear cone aoe this attack hits everything infront and inbehind him simultaneously for 2-5k.

Single Target Dot – a single target Dot that cannot be removed. It ticked for 1.2k/tick on me.

Melee Range Aoe – Wether this is an aoe ability or an melee range dot we couldn’t figure out. The tank didn’t seem to be affected by it too much, but our White Lion was getting hit with it constantly. None of our ranged people got hit by it.

Cloud – Skull Lord Var’Ithrok drops a red cloud at random on people. At first we ran out of it, but then noticed it didn’t do any damage to us so we just ignored it. We didn’t really notice any increase in damage or anything. I didn’t even see me get a debuff when I was in it, perhaps its bugged for now?

3 Hound Spawns – Once Skull Lord Var’Ithroks hp went below 70%, every 15% or so he would summon a pack of 3 normal hounds. They usually made a bee line for our tank, but sometimes they would go to a healer or caster. Our tank could tank all the hounds, and the boss at the same time. Its important to get the hounds off the healers asap if they are on them.

So after much wiping from dumb mistakes we finally get to kill him, and I have to say his death animation was pretty funy. I thought it was cool how he got sucked into this gigantic portal. Which I feel deserves a screenshot of its own.

Loots was one single Bloodlord Flamerobe (chest) for our failure bright wizard. Also it dropped 1 Bloodlord Runecuffs which I already had, and some weapon that our Warrior Priest didn’t need. That was about it. All in all it was a fun encounter I think.

My friends and I finished this quest line which starts at Klorn Durginson in Human chapter 20 of Chaos Wastes. While the end reward wasn’t too bad the quests for melee classes that get up close in personal, the hidden proc bonus for Runepriest absolutely sucks. Yes a very sad panda moment.

Yes I said hidden proc. If you didn’t already know, the rewards for finishing the Epic Quests for Tier 4 zone is a blue weapon that has hidden procs. What’s a proc? A good definition of proc can be found here. Basically its a spell or effect that goes off when meeting certain conditions. Like 5% chance to do extra 50 damage on a melee hit or something like that.

I’m not sure why, but in Warhammer Online the weapons don’t show if they have special abilities. The only way to test is to really pay attention to your combat logs. Like really pay attention. The only reason I found out what mines was, was because my friend told me about it. Then after about spending 10 minutes swinging at some zombie in Chaos Wastes I finally see it show up in my combat logs. If I didn’t know about the proc before hand I wouldn’t have even known about its existance. However now that I do, I can rant about it I guess.

Anyways like I was saying these weapons are great for melee classes. But they basically blow for ranged ones especially ranged healer types like my Runepriest. While the stats for the staff called Vitality that I picked up from the Faith is Madness questline was decent. The hidden proc attributed to it is called ‘Judgment X‘, and is a 300 damage direct damage nuke, which only goes off on, get this, melee hits. Yes, MELEE hits. Which I’m fairly bummed out about since the only time I’m actually meleeing someone is when I’m getting beat on in PvP, and about to die.

Well though it didn’t make me feel any better, my bright wizard friend was saying his weapon was a melee proc too. So I guess we’re just going to send reports in to fix it hopefully.

If you want to get these weapons with hidden procs for yourself. Here’s a list Epic Quests for Order and Destruction. I hope you find them atleast more useful on your characters than me. Maybe I should try out a melee Runepriest build.

Order

Faith is Madness

Unmasking the Enemy

Desperate Gambit

Destruction

Annihilation

The Ebon Flame

Time to Waaagh!

Note: At the time of this post there is also a bug associated with these weapons, and their hidden procs which has yet to be resolved.

The bug that is occuring is that these weapon’s hidden procs still affect you even AFTER you unequip them for a period of time. Meaning if you have a weapon from two of these quests, you can unequip one wear some green weapon, and still keep the weapon proc that these weapons give. For more information regarding this interesting side bug check out this post in the WHA forums.

First get familiar with the macro system so that you can create a macro, and set it to your action bar. I don’t feel like recyling this information so go here for a detailed post about it at a wall of text.

Now after you have read that post, and know how to make a macro properly. Create these 5 macros, and set them up with hotkeys via the key mapping feature (Esc -> Key Mapping)

/script TacticsEditor.OnSetMenuSelectionChanged(1);

/script TacticsEditor.OnSetMenuSelectionChanged(2);

/script TacticsEditor.OnSetMenuSelectionChanged(3);

/script TacticsEditor.OnSetMenuSelectionChanged(4);

/script TacticsEditor.OnSetMenuSelectionChanged(5);

It should look like this pic here:

Setting up the hotkeys is also just as easy. I set them up in my 3rd bar like in the pic below:

Notice the same 5 icons on my bar in the bottom left. They are set to Ctrl – NumPad 1 – 5. This way I can hold down the Control key, press 1on the number pad, and it switches me to my Tactic Set 1. I press Ctrl – Numpad 2, and it switches to Tactic Set 2 etc.

Once that is done you are ready to go. No more mouse clicking to change between your Tactic Sets. Enjoy!

Now another one, killing 1000 night goblins has recently shown up in a forum post over at WHA.

If this one gets confirmed then it should be all the partial tome tactics people will need to unlock the much elusive tome tactic Manly Meddling, and its +50% experience when killing NPC human, dwarf, and elves. I really don’t get this though, killing 1000 undead Dark Elves for 1 unlock, and killing 1000 Goblins for another one. It makes no sense to me, but whatever I’m just glad that it was finally found.

Anyways if you’re looking for the rest of the partial tactic unlocks check out the Tome Tactic Unlocks Guide.

This little renown tactic lets you earn an extra 5% experience for PvP kills. The best thing about it is that you can get this tactic as early as Renown Rank 2, and ALL careers can use it. That’s basically winning one Tier 1 RvR Scenario, or taking over one Tier 1 RvR Objective on the world map. Definitely alot easier than unlocking Tome Tactics. Also it does not interfere with your regular career tactics as it goes into a separate slot.

If you are unfamiliar with the locations of the renown trainer sto train this skill here’s the list of where to go for your race for Tier 1. You may train this skill at any renown trainer in any tier if you have not done so yet. As always happy hunting!

My Runepriest, Minimoses, has been trudging along quite slowly in the Warhammer Online game. Slowly mainly, because leveling up a healer in any game is usually quite slow if you’re doing it solo. That was until I got my latest spell when I turned level 25 tonight. That spell is Rune of Burning.

Why am I soo excited about this spell? Mainly because its letting me kill stuff pretty fast. Up till now I’ve basically been killing mobs with a rotation of spells that were listed in my dps rant. What basically happened though is that when I was killing an equal level or higher level mob it was taking me forever to do so. This spell cut that time down in almost half for me. Also when farming something a level or two below me now, I think I can farm better than Witch Hunters I think.

Now before you start flaming me about healers should stick to healing etc etc, I’m just going to tell you I already know about that. But I’m leveling right now, and unless your planning on grouping with me to grind exp with me till the level cap your point is null. Now that being said, onto the spell description!

Rune Of Burning

Path of Valaya – Range 100ft – Instant

Cost – 10 AP / Sec – Cooldown 11 seconds

Channeled. Deals 156 Elemental damage over 6 seconds. 100% chance to be setback while casting.

Anyways, the first thing to note is that the spell description is misleading especially on the damage end of it. It states that it only does 156 damage, but that is for level 1. The other thing is the last sentence in which is states “100% chance to be setback while casting”. I don’t know if this is a bug currently or not, but I do not experience any setbacks while casting this spell. If I get hit the spell continues to channel, unless I get stunned/silenced/knocked down. By the time you first get this spell you will be level 25, and it does close to 800 damage in 6 seconds. Compare this to my regular spell rotation for mobs as follows:

Rune of Striking (2 seconds cast for 200-300 damage)

Rune of Immolation (instant cast ticks for 50-60 damage/tick)

Rune of Fire (instant cast for 200-300 damage)

Rune of Cleaving (instant cast for 100-120 damage/tick)

Repeat #1 and #3 until the dots wear out, and recast them.

Killing a mob 2 levels lower basically took me about 15-25 seconds each. Now with the Rune of Burning I kill those same mobs in about 8 seconds. I usually have to wait a second or two for Rune of Burning cooldown to wear off in between mobs when I chain pull.

Now I always use the Divine Fury tactic when I’m out soloing or questing. It makes leveling go much faster, and as far as the reduced healing is concerned it doesn’t matter much since I kill things without healing myself much nowadays anyways. With the 25% extra damage from Divine Fury, and all the int gear I wear for questing, this spell does about 200-300 damage per tick for 6 seconds at level 25. Needless to say, my influence grinding time has sped up quite a bit now.

So if there are any other lonely Rune Priests out there that don’t get into groups or RvR scenarios late at night. Try this spell out. It makes for a more enjoyable leveling experience, and it makes leveling a healer a little more fun. I’m itching to use this on some players in the next RvR scenario I join.

What are Tome Tactics?

Tome tactics are the blue tactics that players can put into their slots in addition to their Career, and Reknown tactics. These Tome Tactics are for PVE only, and does not have any benefit for PVP (RvR). However the Boon – (Manly) and Outmaneuver (Greenskin) Tactics may benefit players who want additional help killing the NPCS around RvR Objectives. (unconfirmed) These Tome Tactics gives bonuses such as added damage, decreased aggro range, or reduce damage taken from those type of monsters.

Where can I get Tome Tactics?

Tome Tactics are available for purchase from the librarians in the capital cities. Altdorf for Order, and The Inevitable City for Destruction.

How do I unlock Tome Tactics?

To unlock a tome tactic you will have to have multiple tome of knowledge unlocks of a particular type. For example: Greenskin Tome Tactics will require you to get multiple Greenskin tactic unlocks. Also there are three levels of each type of Tome Tactics. There is no order in which you need to unlock these, as long as you unlock a certain amount in your tome of knowledge. (For example Boon of the Impalpable – (Manly Scheme) is unlocked after performing any two items in the list, to unlock Boon of Tenacity – (Manly Strategy) you will need to unlock four items in the list)

Note: Some of these will be for either Order (O) or Destruction (D) only, and will be noted with (O) or (D)
