Ding 30 – Tier 4 Warhammer Online Zones Fear Me!

Well ever since my Runepriest Minimoses was able to get Rune of Burning spell at level 25, I’ve been killing, slaying, kicking, pounding, and stepping on various mobs and or players throughout the Warhammer Online universe.   So after much of that I was able to get to level 30 last night.  Yippeeeee!

So what have I been doing for the past 5 levels exactly?  Alot of RvR, and quite a bit of exp grinding via quests from different races.  I’ve also been trying to unlock tome tactics, but that’s been going slower than expected as well.  By the time I got to level 30 I had already done all chapter 15 quests for all three factions, and I’m almost done with the human chapter 16.  I have a feeling that from 30-40 its going to be quite a long grind of PvP, and mob grinding as there seems to be a lack of quests from 30+.  Also the amount of experience from the quests doesn’t seem to be scaling quite as high as the amount of experience needed to attain the next level.

However since I’m entering the tier 4 areas, by now the rest of the server will also be entering tier 4 so atleast the tier 4 RvR scenarios should pop more often.  I hope, and if there is another map like Tor Anroc that I’ll have to deal with till I’m level 40 I’m going to shoot myself.  Me and my friends have been playing this, and it is just plain annoying.  90% of the time destruction gets the bauble in the center before order does unless we have a White Lion that was able to pounce across the lava.  Even with my guild’s speed banner for the party, we usually see some a Maurader pick up the bauble up as we are climbing up the ramp.

So Destructions players don’t believe this?  Bobby Hicks (Weenus) from ChaosMoon tried to explain it here, but I don’t think it was a clear enough explanation on why Destruction gets to the bauble first if players on both sides just run straight to it.  Let me help him explain this a little better using a map and some circles.

What’s wrong with this picture?  The distance for order to travel is longer.  If it takes 2 seconds to travel each circle in the map, then basically destruction players will be about 2 seconds on the bauble while we come up on the ramp which is sounds right.  Granted this isn’t a scaled actual map, and just the one from the minimap I feel its an accurate representaion of whats happens on the map.  What’s wrong with a identical mirror arena.

Anyways I’m done ranting, I just turned level 30 and still need to figure out what tactic to stick into my third tactic slot now.

I have had the opposite problem with my past half dozen times in this scenario. In fact Order has beaten us to the bauble. I am pretty sure that the minimap is not to scale, but the map overall is. It seems like how close you cut corners and control your toon really affects how fast you go. Plus when you use your flee skill can make or break getting to the bauble. If you use it too soon, you really don’t gain that much of a boost, but you can use it again sooner, but if you use it too late, you get burned by the enemies. Plus if you use it but are on bad terrain it really doesn’t help as much as being on flat terrain. (just a few things I noticed)

I think the times Order did beat you to the bauble was most likely the White Lion hopping across the lava, or if people use battle standards on one team, and the other doesn’t. I’ve yet to see a group of Order arrive at the bauble first without use of battle standards before Destructions group.

Yes i agree that map is not scaled right, u can see that with bare eye when u open map. Question is why is everyone playing that map? Answer is simple: coz order dont want to play any other! Here they can knock destruction in lava way more and better then destruction can do that to them. Yes they get bouble first, but fact is that 80% of battles order wins only coz destruction guys spend 80% of their time in lava. At least thats the situation on Karak-Hirn server, u guys should rly try some other maps, I was flagged for all but Tor Anroc for almost an hour and none popped up.

Yeah it sucks that order will only queue this map. I always queue for all scenarios and leveled exclusively in scenarios from 20-29 and I have only been in about one other scenario per level so probably about 10 total but I know I haven’t done more than 20.

What is funny is you mention that a maurader grabs the flag first (because of his 2 sprints) but that is the only class that we have that does that. Also a white lion can beat everyone because of his lava pounce. Each side has a way to cut corners.

QQ order – you win most of these anyways because you have more knockbacks and heals usually in this tier at least so the only crying point is that you can’t beat our one class with two sprints to the flag…
