If you are over 50, in the Pennsylvania area, likes video games, and want to save money on car insurance your in luck. The car insurance company Allstate is starting up a pilot program called ‘Insight’ that might just let you do just that.
Under the program 100,000 people between 50-75 are going to be given a computer game to play. The amount of hours they play, as well as the rate of car accidents that occurred to this test group will get recorded. These people will get compared to people who don’t play video games. All this just to test if seniors playing video games get some brain exercise that helps them avoid senior moment car crashes.
The company doing the computer game used in the test group, Posit Science, has 9 years of research on how to improve senior’s brain fitness. If all goes well with the test, then Allstate will extend this to the rest of states. Meaning people over 50 that play video games will get a discount.
So, now when is Allstate going to extend this to the younger generation? I mean I play a lot of video games so if this flies I should get one heck of a big discount. Atleast I’ll have something to look forward to when I’m 50. These guys should send Jack a computer version of GTA, since he’ll need the discount especially since he got disbarred.

Now, isn’t this a great idea! I haven’t seen anything like it here in South Africa. Wonder if it will come this way if it catches on. My dad is very active on his computer (maybe not with games as such) and I am sure that is helping his brain to remain sharp.

Wow! This is outstanding. I guess the only thing that I worry about is how are 50+ folks going to be graded on in-game driving skills if they’re not already familiar with video game play and the associated controls? I know for a fact that my dad is a pretty decent driver, but hand him an Xbox controller, and he hasn’t got a clue. Cool pilot program though…let’s see how it shakes out.
