OK I have done this and level up to 60 with my mage cousin,

1. You have to be within 4 levels to get 3x exp.
2. You have to be within 100 yards of each other to get 3x exp.
3. you can only get 3x exp, if you recruit another person and level with both people you do not get 6x exp but both accounts can still grant you levels as long as you are below their level
4.the recruit character get his first grant-able level at level 2.

5. if you want to play with a friend I strongly recommend this, it's extremely fun watching people go "WTF?!" when you level 2 times in ZF and they haven't leveled once. Also because you only gain 3x exp when within 100 yards of each other it encourages you to help each other so one person doesn't just level up without you.

My cousin and I got to 60 in about 5-6 days but that was without trying to get to 60 ASAP we spent about 30 hours on professions and tons of time do completely pointless stuff like trying to get the achievement for falling 60 feet and surviving, we died a lot! With recruit a friend you kind of depend on each other which makes it way more fun, also being different to most players is also extremely fun.

1. you have to be within 2 levels to get 3x exp.

2. you have to be in party

3. you have to be on same quest to benifit, and have to turn in quest side by side.

4. you also gain 3x rep together i beleive.
i have lots of linked accounts its the best way to go.

So if mt friend on the refer a friend account lvls 2 characters to 59 they can each grant one of my characters about 30 lvls, making him 59 like one of his characters?

Stumbled upon this while looking at stuff about linked accounts.

Here is a quick overview of why it exists guys.

If you play the game and have an 80 and your friend wants to play with you its not fun to level again with them in general. Also you have raids, etc.

this way when leveling together u have 3x xp to get them closer to you. When you raid or play your main char they can keep leveling (without 3x xp) and then grant your character levels to catch up when you play with them again.

Thats the rationale.

Yea...I think that's really sad when Blizzard allows this to happen. But hey, it's their business. I for one found it more interesting, fustrating, shoot myself in the knee cap to level up! But, I love every minute of it. It's nice to be able to game the system (for some) sort of speaking, sometimes...but I find no satisfaction in that.

Actually, to clear up some confusion here:

1. The friend can grant one level every 2 levels they gain

2. They grant these levels to the vets' account

3. The friend needs to grant these levels before they hit 60, once they hit 60 the grantable levels are lost. So basically at level 59 the friend has about 30 grantable levels saved to give to an alt on the vets' account.

4. They vet's character receiving the levels needs to be lower in level that the friends character granting the levels

5. The triple xp also stops at level 60

I think part of the rationale behind these rules is so people don't save all their granted levels to boost a Death Knight to 70 once the xpac hits.

Just thought I'd clear up some of the confusion about granting 35 levels at level 70 :/ would hate for people to lose all their grantable levels just, all of this can be verified at the Refer a Friend page on the main warcraft site.
